The Circle of Breath

If you're new

Your first circle, walked through.

The whole thing is two hours, from 7pm to 9pm Eastern. Here's exactly what happens, in order, so you can show up without surprises.

An open mat with a folded blanket and a small candle in soft dawn light.

Most people’s first breathwork session is the first time they’ve done anything quite like it. The page below walks through the night from arrival to close so you arrive without surprises.

  1. Before

    A few hours before

A light meal two or three hours before. Hydrate. Skip the heavy lunch and the heavy caffeine. Wear something you can lie down on the floor in. Layers, since the body cools down once the breath drops in.

  2. 6:45pm

    Arrive

Doors open about fifteen minutes before the start. The room is small and quiet. Leave shoes at the door, take a mat or a chair, settle in.

  3. 7pm

    Opening

A short welcome. Brief intentions. A quick orientation to the breath cue. Total: ten minutes.

  4. 7:15pm

    Breathwork

Twenty-five to forty minutes of guided Conscious Connected Breathing, sustained over music. The facilitator holds the rhythm. You don't need to do anything except keep the breath moving.

  5. 8:00pm

    Settle, then write

A few quiet minutes of stillness. Then five to ten minutes of journaling. Capture whatever arrived during the breath. The page does most of the integration work.

  6. 8:20pm

    Sharing circle

An open round to speak honestly to the room. You can pass. No advice, no feedback, no fixing. Just honest, vulnerable connection.

  7. 9pm

    Close

A short close, sometimes a final breath together, then doors. Most people leave quietly. Some linger to talk for a few minutes outside.

Bring with you

  • A journal and a pen.
  • Layers. The body cools when the breath drops in.
  • A water bottle.
  • An open mind. That’s the only entry requirement.

Leave at home

  • Any substances. Every circle is sober.
  • A heavy meal in the hour beforehand.
  • An expectation that something specific must happen. Show up and let the breath do the rest.

After the circle

The hours after a session are often as useful as the session itself. Most people are quiet for the evening. Some sleep deeply that night. Some wake at four in the morning with a clear sentence. The journaling pass during the circle helps. Re-read it the next morning.

If something surfaced during the breath that you want to keep working with, the fifteen-minute daily MP3 is a way to keep the practice going between circles, or you can book a 1:1 private session.

Booking

Every reservation flows through Ticket Tailor.

Credit for cancellation is available up to 24 hours before the session start. Every circle is a sober event. Anyone suspected of being under the influence of any substance will be asked to leave.
